Reverend Braden Parks

Hello Everyone! My name is Reverend Braden Parks. I am the pastor of Decatur Christ UMC. My wife Michelle, our son Luke and I are so excited to be serving and loving Jesus together as a family.

Personal Background:

I was born in The Woodlands, Texas. I grew up in the walls of the United Methodist Church there in Texas. I first fell in love with Jesus when I was nine years old and have been following after Him ever since.

Along the way, I met the most beautiful woman in the world. Her name is Michelle. We met through my parents at a Christian youth camp. After a three-year friendship and dating relationship, Michelle and I were married in Nashville Tennessee. We have a son named Luke that is a bundle of joyful energy and is very outgoing.

I graduated from Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky with my Bachelor of Arts in Intercultural Communications in May of 2014. I graduated from Asbury Theological Seminary with my Masters of Divinity. Through these experiences, God has trained me for ministry, discipled me in His love and has grown me into the person I am today.

Our Personal Hobbies:

Michelle and I love music, theater and sports. We love country and bluegrass music. I lived most of my 20s in the state of Kentucky. We have been involved in theater productions over the last three years of our marriage. We have worshiped and served God through our love of talents in acting and in singing. We believe that creativity and art are places in which the Body of Christ needs to get involved in; they have been powerful sources of ministry and connecting with others in our lives.

Closing Words:

Michelle and I are called to disciple others through serving in full-time pastoral ministry. Our hearts and passions are for Christ, His Church and the World. We believe that building relationships and loving people with the heart of Jesus are the best ways in which we are going to reflect Jesus to Decatur and the great state of Illinois. We look forward to living life and journeying with Jesus together.

We invite you into the loving, wide open arms of Jesus Christ.
